Pregnancy and new motherhood bring such an array of emotions, it is hard to get a handle on them at times.  For example, one moment you might think, " Oh. My. Gosh.  Pregnancy lasts FOREVER!"  And then the next moment you think, "She's going to be here so soon!! I hardly have any time to get ready!"  So, while at times I wished for Rosie to be here sooner, rather than later, I was so thankful that the Lord decided that a pregnancy would last 9 months.  I needed that time to prepare my heart, my head, and my house for a new person to join our family.

Here I have compiled a little list of some of my favorite things to have since Rosie was born.  Some are absolutely necessary, and some are just my preference, something I found to make my life a bit easier.  I hope this list helps as you prepare to welcome your little one into the world!

1. Milk Snob Multi-functional Cover - Target - 32.99

This has to be one of my favorite items I splurged on.  To me, the price seemed a little high, and I actually almost returned it after I purchased it, but I am so glad I didn't!  I have literally used it every day since Rosie was born.  This cover is perfect to help keep her warm while in her car seat, it helps keep the light out of her face without smothering her, and it makes the perfect nursing cover.  I love that it is thick enough not to be see-through, but it is also light enough that Rosie is still able to be comfortable while nursing.  Plus, who can pass up this super adorable print?!

2. Blooming Bath - Baby Bath - Target - 39.99

How cute is this?!  Again, this was another splurge item, because how long will baby really take a bath in the sink for?  However, I am so glad the we decided to go with this bath, because it will be perfect until she is ready to move to a full size tub.

The great thing about this baby bath is that after you're done, you simply throw it in the washing machine or dryer. It makes clean up so easy!

3. Summer Infant Pacifier Thermometer - Target  - $7.99

This item was such a life-saver for us.  Seriously, why did it take someone so long to come up with an item like this?!  I think I found this thermometer especially useful because every time Rosie has the sniffles, I worry that she could be getting seriously sick.  This thermometer makes it easy for me to take her temperature regularly, without her hating me for it.

4. FridaBaby NoseFrida Nasal Aspirator - Target - $15.29

I know, I know, this product grosses everyone out.  But here's the deal, are boogers really the worst thing we deal with as new parents?  I can promise you that is not the case.  I mean, just yesterday I had to completely strip my daughter down in a church bathroom and clean poop off her entire body with only wipes.  Trust me, boogers are the least of your concerns.
Once you get over the odd nature of this item, you realize that it is your best friend.  And there's a filter, so you're good ;) But seriously, buy one of these. You won't regret it.

5. Oh Joy! Backpack Diaper Bag - Target - $39.99

Here's the thing, once you have a baby, your whole life changes.  But at least you can still be stylish while dragging around 50 pounds of baby stuff, right?  This bag is cute and practical; I love that it is a backpack because it makes carrying all the baby stuff so much easier. Plus, it has all the pockets for bottles, diapers, wipes, and more.

It has become my diaper bag AND my purse, because who can carry a baby, a diaper bag, groceries, and a purse? Definitely not this girl!

6. Boba Wrap Classic Baby Carrier - Target - $39.99

I used this carrier several times a day for the first few weeks after Rosie was born.  Especially when we were out and about, she needed to feel close and safe.  The Boba wrap allowed me to still have some mobility, while also giving her what she needed.  Some nights when she couldn't sleep, I would walk around carrying her, and when my arms wore out, I would rock her to sleep in this wrap.  There is definitely a learning curve to learn how to use it, but once you get the hang of it, it'll be your favorite item!

7. Fisher Price Cradle N' Swing - Target - $107.99

This swing definitely is one of the best items we could have received.  It was actually a present from my brother-in-law, and it is the BEST.  Our daughter has slept many nights in this swing because she feels safe being cradled in it, and it allows her to breathe easier when she has the sniffles.

There are several different speed levels for the swing, as well as different music options, or nature sounds.  The swing can also be turned to different positions, allowing it to swing forward and backward or side-to-side. This swing has been a life saver!
8. BabyBjorn Baby Carrier One - Target - $134.99

Just like the Boba wrap, this carrier is something I have used almost every day.  The Boba was especially nice for when Rosie was a newborn, but now that she is big enough to want to start looking around, this BabyBjorn is perfect!  I also love that it is something that my husband feels comfortable using.  It is SO easy to put on, tighten up, and slide baby into.  I use this when I'm out grocery shopping, so I don't have to hassle with her big car seat, and she's literally strapped to me, so I don't have to worry about people touching her when I turn away (literally turned back from a shelf at Wal-Mart one day to find an employee pulling the cover off of Rosie's car seat.)

The other nice thing is, there are several different levels of this carrier, at different price ranges, and they're all nice.  They are meant to grow with your baby.  I'm pretty sure I will be done using the carrier before Rosie outgrows it!

You know you're a soon-to-be mom when you've spent 2 hours researching whether you should buy the Boppy or the My Breast Friend Pillow.  Thankfully, I was gifted our Boppy, so I didn't have to make the decision.  And honestly, it has been everything I needed it to be!  We use it on a daily basis so that Rosie can sit up next to us, or nap with her head propped up, or for nursing.  I'm also glad to have it for when she starts to learn to sit up, so that I won't have to worry about her falling and hurting herself!

10. Boon TRIP Travel Drying Rack - Target - $14.99

When making this list, I tried just adding things that we actually use every day.  And honestly, I almost forgot about this drying rack because it's so small and inconspicuous!  We use it every day after washing bottles and pump parts.  I like that it is cute, small, and easy to travel with.  Honestly, I'll probably go buy the full size option soon!

If you're a soon-to-be first-time mama, I hope that you've found this list to be somewhat helpful!  And honestly, don't stress over all this gear and what's right and what's wrong.  At the end of the day, all your baby really needs is YOU.  Sure these items all help a lot, but when everything is said and done, if you're being present, and showing them love, and giving them the basic necessities, all of these extras are just the icing on the cake.  Keep doing what you do best mama!
